Description Water needs in Salt Lake Valley were growing quickly at the turn of the 20th century. Dams were constructed in 1908 at the north and west ends of Lake Blanche to store more water for late summer drawdown. The lake is no longer used to store water, although the Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities owns the water rights in the lake.
