Capturing the top three spots in the 3,000-meter run as the highlight of the day, Utah track and field team wrapped up the first day of action at the Jackson's Invitational in Boise, Idaho, Friday night. The highlight of the day came in the 3,000-meter run, where the Utes captured the first three spots and five of the top 10. Capturing the event title was junior Giselle Slotboom, who recorded a time of 10:01.53 in her first indoor race in over four years. Senior Jocelyn Todd was the next Ute to cross the finish line in a time of 10:16.70 for second. Rounding out the top three runners was Dana Snell, running her first collegiate 3,000 in a time of 10:30.10. True freshmen Jade Mulvey (seventh, 10:44.21) and Hannah Allred (eighth, 10:44.31) also competed for the Utes. The long jump featured two true freshmen competing for the Utes. Leading the way for the Utes was Mackenzie Arnold, who captured third after leaping a distance of 16 feet, 10 inches. Lauren McCluskey placed seventh with a jump of 16 feet, 5.25 inches. Utah had two athletes qualify for the finals in the 60 tomorrow. Junior Alissa Atisme recorded a time of 7.8 seconds to finish the day in fourth place. Madison Lanford recorded a personal-best time of 7.99 seconds to place sixth in the prelim race. Lanford also recorded a personal bests in the 200 prelims and 60 hurdles, where she placed fifth in both races with times of 26.31 and 9.52 seconds, respectively, and qualified for the finals tomorrow. Junior Christine Van Brocklin and true freshman Lauren McCluskey also qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles for the Utes. Van Brocklin recorded a time of 9.12 seconds for second and McCluskey enters the finals tied with Lanford in fifth with a time of 9.52. |
