Utah's opening meet consisted of great performances, including junior Mesa Weidle capturing first place in the 400 meter dash. The meet began with the 60 meter dash where junior Raynee Helm clocked in a time of 7.98 seconds to earn seventh place. In the 200, freshman Holly Stallman and Helm finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively. In her first collegiate event, Stallman recorded a time of 26.10 seconds and Helm posted a time of 26.54 seconds.Junior Mesa Weidle was the sole Ute competing in the 400, in which she captured first place with a time of 59.15 seconds. Junior Grace Englund led the Utes in the 800, placing second with a time of 2:16.11. Sophomore Caitlin Faust finished in fourth place in the event recording a time of 2:17.20. Two freshmen rounded out Utes competing in the 800 with Nicole Griffiths and Brooke Martin finishing in sixth and seventh place. Griffiths ran a time of 2:19.64 and Martin finished in a time of 2:19.71. Utah had two relay teams compete in the 4x400. The first relay team consisting of Weidle, Englund, Faust, and Martin finished in second place in a time of 3:57.55. The second relay team for Utah included junior Madison Lanford, Griffiths, freshman Piper Wehrli, and freshman Melissa Taggart. This relay team finished the 4x400 in 4:16.45 to earn fourth place. Sophomore Ann Wingeleth earned second place in the high jump after clearing a distance of 5 feet, 5 inches. Sophomore Eliza Hansen placed fifth in the high jump, clearing a distance of 5 feet, 1 inch. Representing Utah in the long jump, Wingeleth and Stallman finished in second and third place, respectively. Wingeleth leaped a distance of 18 feet, 5.25 inches, while Stallman jumped a distance of 18 feet, 3 inches. |
