The field athletes competed in Tempe, Ariz., at the Arizona State Invitational. In the hammer throw, Anneli Stahl qualified for the final round and finished third overall with a mark of 181-08. In the preliminary round of the hammer throw Cynthia Sanchez threw a personal record of 157-01. Destanae Howerton-Davis hit a personal best mark of 150-08 and Kastin Frostl finished with a throw of 144-08. In the pole vault, Klaudia Rokossa cleared the barrier of 11ft.-10in, but did not qualify for the final round of the event. In the second day of the Arizona State Invitational, the Utah throwers competed in the discus and shot put. Candus Aiello led the Utes in the discus with a throw of 136-1. Destanae Howerton-Davis finished second for Utah with a mark of 136-0.5. In the shot put, Nikkie Rudder finished seventh overall with a distance of 47-2. Aiello hit a mark of 42-5 and Davis posted a throw of 41-1. Coming off the NCAA Indoor Championships, Langley Iverson finished second place in the high jump, clearing the barrier of 5-10. In the long jump, Brianna LeRoy had a solid performance with a jump of 18-5.75 earning her ninth place overall. In the 100m hurdles, Angela Kaplar finished 13th place with a time of 14.46. Freshman Rosalie Griffin made her career debut in the 400m hurdles and earned 13th overall with a time of 1:05.17. In the 400m Lauryn McKay clocked a time of 57.66 for 14th place overall. In the 200m, Alyssa Johnson ran a time of 25.76 earning her 25th place. The 5,000m featured freshmen Rebekah Winterton (18:00.87) and AuraLea Fain (18:21.14) who finished 13th and 15th, respectively for the Utes. |
