Senior Sarah Grimm won the weight throw and true freshman Nikkie Rudder won the shot put. Utah's 4x400m relay team comprised of Whitney Wellington, Chelsey Kaplar, Alyssa Johnson and Ashley Mosley won outright with a time of 3:53.63. Grimm set another personal best in the weight throw on Friday with a toss of 60-0.25, which ranks third in school history. Rudder had a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 45-5.25 to win the event. Freshman Anneli Stahl also had a good day in the weight throw, earning fifth place overall with a toss of 52-11. On the track, true freshman Angela Kaplar got things going in the 60m hurdles. After having a lifetime best at the BYU Invitational last week (9.05), Kaplar surpassed her time in the finals of the event, finishing in 8.92 to tie for fifth-place overall. Utah's 4x400m relay team (A) teamed up for the first time in competition on Friday. They ran a come-from-behind race to win outright with a combined time of 3:53.63. The (B) team, comprised of Lucy Yates, Natalie Young, Lauryn McKay and Amanda Mergaert finished in fifth place overall with a time of 4:00.20. |
