Description |
Pearl Shaffer was named Woman of the Year by the Vernal Business and Professional Women's Club. Peearl began teaching school as early as 1922 when her principal recommended her to tutor the Brewer children at the Brewer Ranch at Bitter Creek. Following that she attended BYU and began her teaching carreer of 47 years. Pearl was a member of the Junior Red Cross during World War II. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as a president. She has been a member of the BPW club since 1929 and served as president twice and on the state committee. She is a member of the Little Gallery of Arts and has served on the Uintah County Hospital Board for many years. She was chairman of the Democratic party and served as served as vice-president of the Uintah Credit Union. She was active in church and was involved in the scouting program. She was born in Vernal on June 5, 1900 and passed away April 17, 1993. |
