A BLM Range Specialist takes a forage production reading from a hoop transect. The hoop used covers a specific area and is randomly thrown in various parts of the range. All usable vegetation within the hoop in cut and weighed. The results estimates are made of the total available forage for livestock and big game in the immediate area. |
