Flumes -- Utah-- Uintah County -- Dry Fork |
Description |
Much of Ashley Creek disappeared in large sink holes in Dry Fork Canyon. The water users of Dry Fork and the Ashley Valley formed a company to work out a solution to save the lost water. The Uintah Milling and Flume Company moved the mill to the site of the sink holes. Dan Adams and Charlie Searle were among those that built a flume over the large sink holes. The flume was three fourths of a mile long and four feet wide. It cost the company 10,000 dollars to build but in the end it failed to hold the precious water. |
