Description |
A 7,000 acre strip of land removed from the Uintah Ute Indian Reservation in 1888 to allow acess to Gilsonite deposits. The Strip became a lawless area. The Utah territorial government was unable to enforce the law on The Strip. Peace officers of Uintah County were also unable to enforce the law and the Indian Agencies had nor jurisdiction where this strip of land was no longer part of the reservation. |
