Doris Burton, Merle Ross and Leora Jacobe was honored for their service as Uintah County Library directors. Merle Ross was library director from 1920 to 1932. She said she loved her job and just wanted to make good books available to the public. Leora served as directory from 1956 to 1976. She helped get the library moved to its location next to the county courthouse. Doris took over after Leora in 1976 as retired in 1983 to start the Regional History Center where she was county historian and director of the center. |
