Lewis Stephen Gardiner was born August 7, 1881 in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He is the son of Joseph Henry and Eliza Ann Watts Gardiner. He filled a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to England. He met his wife, Lucy Toes, while in England. She came to America and they were married in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 11, 1911. They had five children. He assisted in the construction of the chapels in the Valley. He died on June 10, 1955 after surgery. He was in a Salt Lake City hospital at the time. With him in this photo is one of his mission companions while in England. |
