Title |
Uneven development and the Merry-go-round of systemic policies in the Fairpark and North Temple Neighborhoods |
Date |
2022 |
Description |
Originally this study was based on the Request for Proposal (RFP), No. SLCI21064, Gentrification Assessment and Displacement Mitigation Plan Consultant, by the Department of Community and Neighborhoods. The purpose of the RFP was to analyze a set of metrics created to measure gentrification and community assets around Salt Lake City. These metrics are to better inform the government on how to "balance growth and investment while preserving community assets". However, this study quickly turned into an in-depth focus on the factors of risk of displacement in the Fairpark and North Temple (F/NT) neighborhood. I wanted to understand gentrification and displacement in Salt Lake City at an isolated level to tease out the historical and systemic pol- icies and practices that has led this neighborhood to become highly vulnerable to gentrification and displacement. |
