RICCI'S PROGNOSIS POOR, U OF U PHYSICIANS SAY

Richard Ricci has had no neurologic improvement over the last 48 hours. He remains in a profound coma with no brain activity except he is initiating breathing on his own. He is still receiving some ventilator assistance with breathing. His vital signs are still stable. He shows no signs of any responsiveness. His treating neurosurgeon, Richard H. Schmidt, M.D., and neurologist Elaine J. Skalabrin, M.D., have completed an independent assessment of his current condition and prospects for recovery.
