Description |
Papilledema' refers to optic disc edema (ODE) from raised intracranial pressure (ICP). As a leading reason for Neuro-ophthalmology referral, in any specialty setting, papilledema must be distinguished and managed uniquely from other ODE causes. Otherwise, significant vision loss and optic atrophy may result. The term 'papilledema' is often misused synonymously with ODE. This study aims to determine the prevalence of this error among various specialties in the medical literature. |
