Description Idiopathic Orbital Inflammation (IOI) is an inflammatory orbital process with no identifiable etiology. It is a diagnosis of exclusion, requiring workup for infectious, inflammatory, vascular, neoplastic, malignant, granulomatous, and autoimmune conditions that can affect the orbit. Typically treated with steroids initially followed by other disease modifying therapy, recurrent disease with drug taper may represent an atypical presentation of a known disease.
