Description The distinction between pseudopapilledema (i.e. drusen or anomalous discs) and papilledema by ophthalmoscopic examination is not always readily apparent and there is no gold standard test for distinguishing between these two entities. We evaluated the utility of ultrasound (i.e. sensitivity and specificity) in distinguishing papilledema from pseudopapilledema in a large sample of adult patients.
