Description To determine if the extraocular muscles in PEO could be separated from age matched normals with MRI. Nine patients with PEO and age matched controls were studied. The extraocular muscles of 8 patients (16 eyes), and 8 age matched controls (16 eyes) were measured digitally. Images consisted of 1.5mm contiguous slices acquired using a volume (3D) gradient echo acquisition (MPRAGE or 3D- Field Echo).
