Description Diagnostic information previously gained from skull X-rays, pluridirectional tomography, and metrizamide enhanced CT today is supplied by the combined use of CT and MRI. Multiplanar MRI, T1 weighted (partial saturation technique) shows the exact dimensions of the optic chiasm, tract and nerves, the pituitary infundibulum and gland, mammillary bodies and tuber cinerium, as well as the walls of the third ventricle, the' cisternal and intracavernous segments of the third and fifth cranial nerves, and the dural coverings of the cavernous sinus.
