Senior Mitchell Schow recorded his highest finish ever at the 2021 Pac-12 Men's Golf Championships this past week, finishing in a tie for eighth overall with the Utes tying for ninth as a team, shooting 11-over (1451) through four rounds of play. The team started the tournament by shooting 3-over (363) through the first 18, but struggled in the second round, shooting 13-over for a 36-hole score of 16-over (736) to tie them for ninth through two rounds. In round three the team started finding some rhythm by shooting 1-under (359) where they birdied 22 holes as a team. The fourth and final round of the tournament was played today where the team had their best round shooting 4-under (356), giving the Utes a tournament score of 11-over (1451). Leading the team was Schow, who shot 7-under (281) to finish the tournament in a tie for 8th, which ranks as the second lowest 72-hole score for the Utes since joining the conference. Schow became the second Ute to finish in the top-10 at the Pac-12 Championships, joining Kyler Dunkle who finished in second in 2019. Schow shot even par or better in every round of the tournament with his best performance coming in round three where he birdied seven holes to help him shoot 4-under (68). He shot 2-under (70) in the final round of the tournament to help him climb the leader board five total spots and a secure a place in the top-10. Junior Tristan Mandur and freshman Javier Barcos finished the tournament tied for 44th and 46th, respectively. Mandur put together a strong finish in the fourth round where he shot 4-under (68) to climb nine spots on the leaderboard, finishing the tournament 4-over (292). Barcos' show 5-over (293) with his best round coming in round three where he shot 4-under (68) after birding five holes. Rounding out the team was redshirt sophomore Colton Tanner, junior Blake Tomlinson and freshman Jesper von Reedtz. Tanner shot 10-over (298) to finish in a tie for 54th with his best round coming in round one where he shot even par (72). Tomlinson finished in a tie for 58th after shooting 12-over (300) and his best round also came on day one when he shot even par (72) in the first round. Reedtz shot 13-over (301) to finish in a tie for 60th after he shot 1-under (71) to climb the leader board 6 spots on the final day. |
