The Utah track and field team closed out the Jackson's Invitational with many great performances on the second day of competition on Saturday in Boise, Idaho. Utah finished competition on Saturday with three event titles in the mile, 400-meter run, and 4x400 meter relay. Freshman Holly Stallman opened competition for Utah on Saturday where she competed in the 60-meter dash finals. Stallman placed sixth after recording a time of 7.94 seconds. Junior Dakota Grossman ran the mile for Utah and took first overall with a time of 5:04. In the 400-meter run, Utah showed strong performances while claiming three of the top-four places. Competing unattached, redshirt senior Alissa Atisme claimed first overall with a time of 57.11 seconds. Junior Grace Englund finished right behind Atisme in second place in a time of 57.22 seconds. Junior Mesa Weidle crossed the finish line in a time of 57.96 seconds to earn fourth place. Freshman Brooke Martin rounded out the Utes in the 400, placing seventh in a time of 59.23 seconds. Freshman Sarah Newton finished the 800-meter run in second place with a time of 2:16.32. Fellow freshman Melissa Taggart also competed in the 800 and placed fifth overall with a time of 2:19.69. Atisme also competed unattached in the 200-meter dash finals. Atisme placed third overall in a time of 25.42 seconds. Four Utes competed in the high jump Saturday afternoon with sophomore Eliza Hansen leading the way, tying for ninth place. Hansen cleared a mark of 5 feet, 1.25 inches. Sophomore Lauren McCluskey, and freshmen Suzannah Stark and Piper Wehrli tied for 15th place after clearing a mark of 4 feet, 11.5 inches. In the triple jump, freshman Ann Wingeleth placed third after jumping 38 feet, 11 inches. This jump ranked fourth all-time in Utah indoor history. Junior Madison Lanford competed in the shot put where she placed 25th with a throw of 31 feet, 10 inches. Utah had two teams compete in the 4x400 relay. The first team, consisting of Englund, Martin, Newton, and Weidle took home a first place finish with a time of 3:53.27. The second team, consisting of Lanford, Taggart, junior Dakota Grossman, and Wingeleth finished in sixth place with a time of 4:06.16. |
