Utah wrapped up action at the Bronco Invitational Saturday with event titles from Dakota Grossman (mile) and Alissa Atisme (400-meter) and 16 top-10 performances. Highlighting the day was the Utes performance in the 400-meter run, where the Utes earned two of the top three spots. The Utes were lead by the impressive performance of junior Alissa Atisme, who captured the event title after recording a personal best time of 55.74 seconds. Allison Aafedt was the next Ute to finish in third with a time of 57.12 seconds. Also winning an event title was sophomore Dakota Grossman in the mile, who had a personal best time of 5:05.88. Becky Sarmiento also competed, finishing sixth with a time of 5:16.50. The Utes captured three of the top 10 spots in the 60-meter hurdles. Leading the charge was Christine Van Brocklin, capturing third with a time of 9.2 seconds. Madison Lanford placed sixth (9.56 seconds) and Lauren McCluskey finished seventh (9.61 seconds). Atisme and Lanford returned to action in the 60-meter dash. Atisme recorded a time of 7.92 seconds for fifth and Lanford finished in 8.07 seconds for seventh. In the 800, Christine Van Brocklin captured fourth in her first 800-meter race ever with a time of 2:15.14. Makenzie Clark was the next Ute to finish in sixth (2:16.21), followed by Mesa Weidle in tenth (2:22.30). Redshirt senior Andrea Chavez won the event, competing unattached with a personal best time of 2:06.55. Junior Grace Englund also competed unattached, capturing third with a time of 2:13.27. The 200-meter dash featured Madison Lanford recording a time of 26.32 seconds to claim fifth. In the high jump, three true freshmen recorded top 10 performances for the Utes. Eliza Hansen and Morganne Jones lead the Utes, tying with a sixth place performance after clearing a height of 5 feet, 3.25 inches. Lauren McCluskey captured ninth with a jump measuring 5 feet, 1.25 inches. In the shot put, McCluskey and Lanford returned to capture 15th and 19th, respectively. |
