n its first big test of the season competing with several nationally-ranked teams, the University of Utah women's cross country captured fifth place with 164 team points. Sophomores Sarah Feeny and Hannah McInturff led the way for the Utes, recording top-10 performances. Competing for the first time this season, Feeny and McInturff ran like seasoned veterans, capturing seventh and ninth, respectively. Running with the leaders for the majority of the race, Feeny crossed the line with a time of 16:44. McInturff fell behind the leader pack midway through the race, but passed three runners down the last 800-meter stretch and recorded a time of 16:49.5. Finishing 43rd overall was senior leader Andrea Chavez, who arguably ran the best race of her collegiate career recording a time of 17:21.2. Susannah Hurst Spencer crossed the line 51st overall in a time of 17:25.8. Finishing not far behind was Giselle Slotboom, who ran very well in her first race in over three years. The Utes finished the women's blue 'elite' 5-km race with 164 points, securing fifth place. The overall winner of the meet was top-ranked New Mexico with 29 points. Rounding out the top-four team scores was NC State (74 points), Notre Dame (143 points), and Vanderbilt (150 points). The Utes also had five runners compete in the open 5-km race.
