With the rapid proliferation of microwave-generating equipment, much interest and research have centered around the effects of microwave radiation on living organisms. Of paramount importance, when studying microwave-induced effects, is the ability to accurately quantify the energy absorbed by the organism from the electromagnetic field. This is the area known as dosimetry. My senior honors project was designed to look at microwave dosimetry in small animals. This paper is divided into two major sections. In section I, I present a basic background for microwave radiation and its effects. Section II is a presentation of my experimental work, divided into two experiments. |
