Description |
Nursing, unlike many other professions, has various educational routes which prepare graduates for licensure. Although they offer different degrees, nursing programs have common technical and professional foundations. The common areas of achievement provide a base upon which knowledge can be expanded in a progressive nature. The ladder concept of nursing education is built upon this assumption, facilitating an orderly progression between levels of nursing degrees. This study determined how Weber State College graduates of a special advanced placement program and those integrated into generic programs compared with generic graduates in terms of the National Council Licensure Examination results. Descriptive statistics were used to look at independent variables (i.e., age, sex, GPA, experience as an LPN and program type). The overall findings suggest that ladder programs are effective. LPNs who continued their education for an associate degree scored higher on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses than generic graduates. We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time. |
