RESOLVED. THAT THE HOUSING OF THE AGED IS AH IMPORTANT SOCIAL PROBLEM OF OUR SOCIETY. A PROBLEM THAT THE ARCHITECTURAL PROFESSION IS GO 111G TO HAVE TO FOCUS IT'S ATTENTION ON, INCREASINGLY, IN THE FUTURE. THAT IT IS A SOCI/.L FACT THAT THIS 3EGMEHT OF OUR POPULATION IS §0 RAPIDLY GROWING IN NUMBERS; BUILDING DESIGN WILL HAVE TO REFLECT IN ITS CREATION THE NEEDS OF AN OLDER POPULATION. THIS AWARENESS OF THE PROBLEMS OF THE AGED SHOULD RESULT IN GENERAL IMPROVEMENT OF Till MAJORITY OF BUIDLIHG DESIGN. TEAT RISING COSTS IN LIVING HAVE CREATED SEVERE PROBLEMS ECONOMICALLY FOR OUR SENIOR CITIZENS, AND THAT WAYS AND MEANS MUST BE FOUND FOR HELPING THEM TO SOLVE THEIR HOUSING NEEDS ADEQUATELY. PROPOSAL. THAT OLDER PEOPLE CAN ENJOY SELF-RESPECT AND A FEELING OF INDEPENDENCE BY PAYING THEIR OWN WAY AS THEY ARE ABLE. THAT WAYS AND MEANS OF HOUSING THE AGED CAN BE ACHIEVED, GIVING THEM PROPER CARE AND ATTENTION WITHOUT CREATING A FEELING OF INSTITUTIONALISM. THAT THIS HOUSING AND CARE CAN BE PROVIDED BY PROPER PLANING AND BY A SOUND FINANCIAL APPROACH. |
