Photo of John J. McCloy, Edward J. Ennis, and Dillon S. Myer. McCloy served as Assistant Secretary of War during World War II and supported Nisei participation as American troops. Ed Ennis, as a Department of Justice official oversaw the Japanese American internment, worked with the American Civil Liberties Union to fight the internment, and later became President of the ACLU. Myer was appointed to lead the War Relocation Authority that ran the internment camps, but worked to ensure humane treatment of internees and to assist in Nisei resettlement. |
