Title |
The Last Pod Fighter |
Description |
The Last Pod Fighter is an arcade shooter. The player controls a space ship (the camera is fixed behind the ship's back) and shoots down attackers which appear in waves. Movement is unrestricted in all six directions within the boundaries of the current level. After the countdown runs out, the boss ship appears and (after the current wave of regular enemies has been taken care of) needs to be beaten to get to the next level. However, it has strong shields and the player needs to use the pod weapons in order to penetrate them. These are left behind by defeated regular enemies and include marking and tracking an enemy, fortifying shields, a speed boost and a variety of powerful offensive weapons. After running out of shield energy, the game is over and needs to be started all over from the beginning. Because of this it is important to dodge attacks, for example with the barrel run or the instant 180 degree direction change. There are two game modes (arcade and survival), but the only difference is that in arcade mode the shield energy is refilled after beating a boss. |
