Additional Information Image was scanned from color slide. Note: In 1903, Henry E. Huntington and William Hertrich began working together to mold 207 acres of working ranch into botanical gardens of rare and exotic plants. The Japanese Garden, begun in 1911, was inspired by widespread Western fascination with Asian culture.--The Huntington Botanical Gardens website. Note: Chōzubachi is a vessel originally designed to keep water for rinsing one's mouth and cleansing one's body before worshiping gods or Buddhas. It subsequently evolved into what is called tsukubai and became a fixture of the Japanese tea ceremony found within the yard surrounding the tea house.--Wikipedia.
