Note: The UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden (originally commissioned in 1959 by Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Guiberson of Bel Air) covers approximately one acre and is located one mile from the UCLA campus. The garden was inspired by the gardens of Kyoto, Japan. Many of the garden structures were built in Japan and reassembled in Bel Air. The garden was designed by Nagao Sakurai (landscape architect) and Kazuo Nakamura (designer) of Kyoto, Japan.--UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden website. |
