Additional Information Image was scanned from color slide. Note: The UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden (originally commissioned in 1959 by Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Guiberson of Bel Air) covers approximately one acre and is located one mile from the UCLA campus. The garden was inspired by the gardens of Kyoto, Japan. Many of the garden structures were built in Japan and reassembled in Bel Air. The garden was designed by Nagao Sakurai (landscape architect) and Kazuo Nakamura (designer) of Kyoto, Japan.--UCLA Hannah Carter Japanese Garden website. Note: Chōzubachi is a vessel originally designed to keep water for rinsing one's mouth and cleansing one's body before worshiping gods or Buddhas. It subsequently evolved into what is called tsukubai and became a fixture of the Japanese tea ceremony found within the yard surrounding the tea house.--Wikipedia.
