Show An aftermath photograph of the fire that destroyed the inside of Converse Hall on the early morning of March 12, 1926. This photograph is taken from northeast looking southwest. Most of the windows have imploded and it is visibly apparent that the roof and the top floor no longer exist. The outer structure of the building appears sound. Debris is visible in the foreground, leaning against the building. |
| Further Information |
There are two copies of this photograph of which both are in fair condition. The first photograph (655) is glued to a black mat and is larger and is damaged. A small piece of the top layer of the photograph has been ripped off in two places. There are also various indents that are etched into the surface of the photo along with some scratches. The overall appearance of the photograph has a dark tint to it. Written on the back of the first photograph is "Front view of Converse after fire March 1926." 22aThe second photograph (655a) is smaller than the first and is lighter in appearance. There are no marks or blemishes on the front. The back is covered with glue stains and written in black ink is, "Converse 1926." 22aEarly on the morning of Friday March 12, 1926 a fire destroyed the inside of Converse Hall.
