Description Gilsonite is a pureform of hydrocarbon distinctive to Utah. Here is seen an 18 ft. wide vein found in eastern Utah. The vein can be seen stretching across the country in the background. All the gilsonite in the world is found in this area. It is used to manufacture battery cases, plastics and paints. Gift of: David H. Mann from the Utah Farmer collection.
