Description |
Red Cross members in white with banner, group of men, in the intersection of Main Street and Vernal Avenue. Bsuinesses visible: Uintah State Bank, Drugstore and Vogue Theater. The Vernal Express said: "A life sized dummy of Kaiser Wilhelm...was secured and drug through the streets. It was hung to the flag pole and no sooner had been put into position than a volley of shots dropped it to the ground. The dummy was again placed on the pole, where it peacefully reposed the rest of the day, the half torn head hanging to the rope." The lump lying in the center of the road next to the pole may be that dummy. |
