Description |
Orbital meningiomas are neoplastic growths typically arising from optic nerve sheath. Most lesions are slow growing with benign clinical features. Primary meningiomas arise from optic nerve sheath while secondary can arise from adjacent structures such as sphenoid wing. Patient commonly present with symptoms of proptosis and gradual vision loss that can be due to mass effect or the compression of the optic nerve. After surgery, most patients have improved proptosis with mild improvements in visual acuity reported less frequently. Herein, we report a case of a patient with unilateral, painless, progressive loss of vision secondary to a small sphenoid meningioma. |
