Description Necrobiotic xanthogranuloma (NXG) is a rare form of non-Langerhan cell histiocytosis that presents with yellow-orange papules or placoid cutaneous lesions involving the periorbital region, trunk, and extremities. NXG is associated with an increased risk of paraproteinemia, most commonly an IgG monoclonal gammopathy in 80% of cases. Proptosis, strabismus, uveitis, scleritis and conjunctivitis are reported ophthalmic manifestations of NXG.
