Description Most cases of agenesis of the extraocular muscles involve only a single muscle. Isolated agenesis of the lateral rectus muscle, medial rectus muscle, inferior rectus muscle, superior rectus muscle, and superior oblique muscle are all well described, particularly in children with craniostenosis. In some patients, agenesis of more than one muscle occurs.
