Description Steere et al first described a patient who went blind from severe panophthalmitis from Borrelia burgdorferi in 19851. Since then, a spectrum of afferent and efferent manifestations have been reported secondary to Lyme borreliosis including optic neuritis, peri-neuritis and cranial nerve palsies that have expanded our understanding of the neuro-ophthalmic manifestations of this treatable disease.
