Description Visual field defects from involvement of Meyer's loop in the temporal lobe can be seen after epilepsy surgery and are considered to be incongruous, wedge-like ('pie in the sky'), and possibly related to the size of resection. Patients undergoing temporal lobe resection (TLR) at the University of Michigan had a complete neuroophthalmologic examination, including Goldmann visual fields (VF), pre- and post-operatively. 50 patients, 9 to 60 years old (avg 30), underwent TLR from 1985 to 1991. Complete data was available for 27.
