Creator Debra A. Barrett, MD
Affiliation St. Louis, Missouri
Subject Sjorgen's Syndrome; Tear Testing; Ribonuclear Protein Autoantibody; Vasculitis
Description Until 10 years ago, CNS manifestations of Sjogren's syndrome were considered rare, although a distinctive peripheral dorsal root ganglionopathy was well described. In 1982, a controversial literature arose from a single institution with the publication of 16 cases of CNS involvement in Sjogren's syndrome collected in only two years. Ro (SS-A) ribonuclear protein autoantibody was reported to be highly correlated (83%) with 'vasculitis'.
