Description On February 10, 1986 a 69 year old woman presented with the history of diplopia beginning suddenly on January 21, 1986. For approximately one week prior to onset of diplopia, the patient experienced headaches, vomiting, malaise, myalgia and dizziness. Her family physician treated her symptomatically as a flu-like illness. On February 7, she began to experience paresthesias in the upper portion of her right face. Past history and review of symptoms were not particularly suggestive of any specific disease.
