Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurologic movement disorder caused by degeneration of dopaminergic cells in the substantia nigra resulting in hypokinesias, rigidity and tremor. The disease can also affect other motor and sensory function including cognitive abilities, contrast sensitivity, color perception and the control of eye movements. |
