Title Are Sunglasses Predictive of Non-Organic Visual Loss (NOVL) in Neuroophthalmologic Practice?
Creator Bengtzen, Rachel; Woodward, Maria; Lynn, Michael; Newman, Nancy J; Biousse, Valerie
Subject Non organic visual loss; Sunglasses; Diagnosis
Description Diagnosing NOVL is challenging. It has been suggested that sunglasses wear in a neuro-ophthalmic clinic may indicate NOVL, and allow clinicians to adapt their examination strategy. The aim of our study was to evaluate: 1) whether sunglasses wear predicts NOVL in neuro-ophthalmic practice; 2) whether patients with NOVL wear sunglasses more often than patients with organic neuro-ophthalmic disorders; 3) what other factors are present in NOVL patients wearing sunglasses.
