My dear Mr. Commissioner: I enclose herewith clipping from the Trenton State Gazette concerning the Piute Indians in southern Utah. I will be glad if you would read my report on the Piute Indians of two years ago which mentioned these very people. I arrested these people after bloodshed on both sides in 1916 and am in very good relations with them, and if considered suitable, I feel that I can settle the matter now without further bloodshed.
