Description Typescript (15 pages) of a report entitled, "Welfare in the United States," prepared by University of Utah faculty members for Marriner S. Eccles ahead of his attending the conference on public welfare hosted by New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller at Arden House, Harriman, New York, in November of 1967, along with associated correspondence. The report was an attempt to summarize individual reports of the nine faculty members, who constituted a committee to review and respond to three papers sent by the conference organizers as background material for the delegates' discussion. The individual reports are also included here. Many of the letters were by or to Sterling McMurrin, then Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Utah. Also a 15-page typescript entitled, "How can private investment be encouraged to provide employment in urban slum areas, and what can federal and state governments do to supplement such a program?", prepared for a meeting of the National Manpower Advisory Committee held on 29 September 1967.
