Magaly Ordonez discusses their relationship with their family and growing up in Los Angeles, California. They talk about the impact of their father being deported when they were younger, and the increased responsibilities they had in taking care of things around the house and their younger siblings. They discuss not wanting to have a quinceañera and issues with their extended family accepting their gender identity, and the support they felt from growing up with LGBTQ people in their community. They also discuss their progression in higher education and attaining their PHD. |
