Description Chiari I malformation usually becomes symptomatic in late childhood or early adulthood. Patients with Chiari I malformation and papilledema can mimic pseudotumor cerebri and the btreatment in these cases is suboccipital decompression. Chiari I malformation associated with papilledema, however, has never been shown to resolve with acetazolamide therapy.
