Description Evaluation of strabismus currently requires expertise in using prisms to measure horizontal and vertical misalignment in different fields of gaze, which is time-consuming and not widely available in clinics. As a solution, we sought to develop a rapid, automated measurement of strabismus using a commercially available headmounted virtual reality display with video eye tracking. As a first step, we aimed to validate the feasibility and accuracy of an objective assessment of horizontal and vertical ocular alignment in normal subjects viewing targets binocularly as a function of gaze position. We sought to identify and control factors affecting measurement accuracy in video-based eye tracking and to provide normative data for comparison with patients with double vision.
