Description |
A 6-year-old autistic boy was trained to articulate correctly IFI and lSI phonemes by themselves, and in the initial position of words in response to pictures. He was first trained to imitate and then to respond to the pictures when asked "What's this?". IFI phonome training was then introduced followed by IFI word training, then lSI phonome training, and finally lSI word training. Training included verbal and physical prompts, as well as delivery of social reinforcement for correct responses. As a result, the child generalized correct articulation to words requiring both phonemes in untrained probe words. |
