Title | Inside the 6200 South Pump Station |
Subject | Valley; irrigation; pipe |
Description | At the 6200 South Pump Station, water from the East Jordan Canal Extension is pumped approximately one mile uphill to the Cottonwood Corporate Center at 2950 East, enabling the Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities to meet exchange agreements with irrigators higher in the benches who have rights to Big Cottonwood Creek water. The city exchanges its lower quality Utah Lake water, still usable for irrigation, for irrigators' higher quality Big Cottonwood Creek water, that then can be treated for culinary purposes. |
