Description Fred Knowlton and his experiences with studying coyotes and the environment. Fred describes growing up on a farm in Springville, New York and being responsible for milking the family cow, collecting the eggs and taking care of the chickens and his interest in Wildlife Management. He also discusses his (and his siblings) undergraduate education at Cornell University, Masters program at Montana State and eventual PhD degree at Purdue University. Fred spent the entirety of his career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service studying coyotes, first in San Antonio, Texas then Curlew Valley, Utah and eventually moving the field station to Logan, Utah, as well as staff, graduate committee, and major advisor status at Utah State University. Fred recounts buying a small farm and raising sheep for wool while continuing work to support the farm, but enjoying the farm more now that he is retired from the U.S federal government, but retains his connection to the university.
